The year of magical mindsets
Happy New Year, fab people! I hope you had a great break. I love how us Kiwis meet the challenge of each new normal head on. We’ve got this!
First up is to carry on doing all the things that we enjoyed doing over the holidays. I guarantee your year will be brimming with purpose, intent and positivity. Nurturing our hauora (wellness); our mind, body and soul, puts us in a great place to set our personal, whānau and business minds. And goals. We’ve been here before, and we’ll beat this. More on that later!
In December we talked about the importance of taking time to recharge and kicking off the year revitalised and refocused. If you can continue finding ways to consistently push your reset button, then you’re in for a magic 2022.
Power walks with your bestie, swimming at your fave beach – I encourage you to stay in your magic and don’t stop doing the things you enjoy just ‘cos it’s January. Let’s carry on the goodness and bring it bigger in everything we do this year!
Honestly, it’s pretty great coming back to work in Aotearoa. No Northern Hemisphere freezing dark days and darker nights for us, plus Anniversary Days (for some!), and Waitangi Day are all on the horizon.
The future looks bright if we frame it in the right way. If we can manage how we approach challenges, live our lives, frame our mindsets, and carry on doing what we love doing, then we’ll do our best work and be our best selves.
Good news. I can show you how. As you re-open your tabs, try to do it deliberately and slowly and with some strategy behind it. Can you prioritise what you have to do? And here’s a shocker, what about facing up to some of the things you don’t want to do?
I mentioned on Facebook recently that making some tough choices now can turn many of the ‘what ifs’ into the ‘even ifs’. You’ll be more intentional and develop a clearer vision and road map for the months and year ahead. And suddenly everything you’re doing is magic! Good on you for starting your year early, on message, and on fire!
Don’t be afraid of courageous conversations now. Positive action. You’re in control of what you can control and if you do need to speak to that employee about their attitude or that sloppy supplier then surprises happen.
What if by having that chat you found your employee was really struggling with something and your intervention really helped them going forward. Or finding that a new supplier could provide your business with a more efficient service at a cheaper monthly rate? Mindset. Mindset. Mindset.
